Blister was a really likeable character as well and it was nice that Jason was able to see through her disfiguration to who she truly was. As big of a jerk Blister’s father was, I truly believe he had his daughter’s interest at heart and while he was a craggy old guy, I can’t say I wouldn’t have behaved somewhat the same way. Blister by Jeff Strand is a combination horror story, murder mystery, crime novel, comedy, search for justice, and love story, with at touch of backwoods culture thrown in. It is just so much fun to read that you won’t be able to put it down/5().

Blister who is the protagonist in this story, it is the book title as well. Blister used to call, Alyssa, “Alyssa Reed”. In Reed’s family, there was a perfect family with a father, a mother who is pregnant, a grandma and Alyssa. Everyone was looking forward to the baby being born/5. Blister's language seems very sophisticated for a year-old, at times.

But I appreciated the vividness of her emotions and her elaborate fantasies. The book paints a fairly stark portrait of family life, although the grandmother lightens the pain of the story and is a healthy nurturer Blister book role model for Blister/5(11).
